At Medlin+, we’ve always believed that strong communities are built on strong local businesses.
Over time, that belief has turned into conversations, ideas, and eventually a project we’re excited to finally introduce: Shop Local Otero.
What Is Shop Local Otero?
Shop Local Otero is a community initiative created and owned by Medlin+, built with one clear purpose in mind — to support local businesses through visibility, connection, and long-term sustainability.
This isn’t a short-term campaign or a one-off promotion. It’s a platform and ecosystem designed to grow alongside the community it serves, adapting as needs change and opportunities emerge.
Why We’re Building It
Local businesses are the backbone of any community, but they often face the same challenges: limited visibility, fragmented resources, and a lack of centralized support.
Shop Local Otero was created to help bridge those gaps — not by replacing what already exists, but by creating a shared space where businesses and community members can connect more easily.
At its core, this project is about strengthening the local economy by making it easier to discover, support, and engage with the businesses that already make the community what it is.
A Community Project at Its Core
While Shop Local Otero is owned and built by Medlin+, it is intentionally designed as a give-back project — one that prioritizes community benefit over quick returns.
Medlin+ brings the technical expertise, design experience, and infrastructure to the table. The community brings the businesses, the stories, and the momentum that make the project meaningful.
This balance is intentional. The goal isn’t to control the conversation, but to support it.
Where the Project Is Today
Shop Local Otero is currently in its early development stage.
Right now, the focus is on building the backend foundation — ensuring the platform is stable, flexible, and capable of growing responsibly over time. Features, structure, and direction are being shaped carefully, with long-term use in mind.
As development continues, details will be shared along the way. This is very much a work in progress, and that transparency is important to us.
Looking Ahead
Shop Local Otero is not something we expect to “launch and forget.” It’s a living project that will evolve based on real feedback, real needs, and real opportunities within the community.
As the platform grows, we’ll continue to share updates, explain what’s coming next, and invite the community into the process.
For now, this announcement is simply an introduction — and an open invitation to follow along as the project takes shape.
